Who here is old enough to remember when full-size convertibles not only existed, but had the capability to tow travel trailers?

I am.
We traveled all over the east coast towing a trailer when I was a kid in a 1964 Cadillac Coupe de Ville.

@Ddey65: Convertibles usually have a higher towing capacity than the closed version of the same model. This goes for the smaller European cars, too. So a Golf Cabriolet (either I and III) can tow a higher weight than the regular Golf or the Variant.
Years ago a friend had a shitty Fiat Ritmo Cabriolet - which was allowed to tow 1400kg. It was allowed, but perilous :wow: With two horses in a trailer -less than 1200kg totally- it was not driveable any more...
