fastbackjon ◊ 2010-12-03 04:24	It is most likely a standard Belvedere or Satellite dressed up to look like a GTX based on the images provided above which show standard (not GTX/Satellite) taillights, a standard 120 mph (not GTX) speedometer, a standard (not chrome GTX) fuel cap, and a small 22" radiator where the GTX would have had a 26" standard. The car does however have GTX emblems on the front fenders, a correct dual snorkel 440 4bbl air cleaner and GTX hood scoops which someone probably added. I don't see any good shots, but the rear seat is different on a GTX/Satellite too as it has a lowered portion in the center about shoulder height where an emblem for the model would go. Again, they may have used multiple vehicles. The last time I watched the movie (a long time ago) I thought it changed from a real GTX to the clone about the time they tore the door off at the gas station which seems fitting, but I could be wrong.

"Little Miss Sunshine" isn't a movie about a VW Station Wagon, for instance. It just has to be a main character.

I say this because it is missing a few options you would expect to see standard on a GTX (Mopar experts, please advise): 1) 120mph speedometer gauge - see pic (GTX had a standard 150mph speedometer gauge) 2) Column shift (console shift standard on GTX?) 3) Missing chrome brake light bezel (standard on GTX), however these could have been removed. 4) Missing chrome wheel-well trim (pretty sure standard on GTX), however these could have been removed. 5) Bench seat up front (not sure if GTX had standard buckets or not) 6) No competition gas cap and bezel (standard on GTX) Anyone spot anything else? -- Last edit: 2013-04-18 04:20:34 (karoomay)
IMaDEM0N ◊ 2013-04-21 18:34	the one in Joe Dirt, although it WAS the same year, make, model & trim of car...wasn't convertible, the one in Tommy Boy was a convertible...my dad had a 1968 Plymouth Roadrunner...I've never, EVER seen another 1968 Roadrunner up close...the were really, REALLY powerful, really long & uni-body, they couldn't handle for shit, those things DIDN'T TURN. In my father's words "turning the front wheels in the '68 Roadrunner was as effective as turning the wheels if you were 10,000 feet above ground. I can't believe they found two 1967 GTX's which actually was a big error in Joe Dirt, because he refers to it as a 67 and then a few scenes later as a Roadrunner, and there was no Roadrunner model until 1968

Skid ◊ 2021-09-21 21:50	One of the main stunt cars - the same one night cub pictured above - went up for auction recently. It was a 1967 Satellite with a 383 and a column-shift automatic, and had been used in multiple other movies and TV shows over the years since, apparently among then a Katy Perry music video. No info on exactly how many cars were used in the movie, other than "several."
