Yes, that's how I feel.

The original Humvee, the AM General HMMWV, is a great off-road vehicle that has served the US Army very well, but this is just a pimped-up, monstrous waste-of-space. It's all Arnie's fault, once the H1 was more of novelty vehicle, not too many civilians had them, it was ridiculously unsuited to an urban environment (especially a European one) but it would be funny to see something like that in a town because of it's immenseness. But the idea of a car like this, or a chintzy imitation of it which is what the H2 is, being mass-marketed to ordinary people, who don't live in a wilderness, is horrifying, and just shows the worst aspects of western consumerism, you could sell anything to lots of people as long as it was marketed correctly. That's all I have to say, I don't want any lengthy arguements Explorer4x4, instead you can visit www.fuh2.com.

I'm not going to argue, becasue what you described is exactly what I want  . The biggest thing on the road, so big people behind you can't see anything, gets like 2 miles to the gallon and I'd drive it in every small road or city anywhere.

Also, I'm not visiting that website (and there are more SUV fan sites then SUV hate sites). All it is is a bunch of old people who can't take change and complaining about the environment and safety (when in actuality, they don't care). I've been on stupid sites like that, just plain dumb.

Also, I bet the people on that website drive old hippie junkers that are spewing far more pollution into the atmosphere than any new SUV.
Anyways, I'd still prefer a vintage Land-Rover.

explorer4x4

 Ya. You can tell if a person really cares about the environment as much as they lead on, by what they drive. If they do care (this only applies for America),they drive: Honda Insights, Toyota Prius', smart Fortwos or Volkswagen Golf TDIs.

Sure, old VW Bus or Beetle are probably more polluting than a modern SUV (except maybe things like the H2 of course :D)

Although it has been proven that the Prius is no better for the enviroment in the long run to a normal car it's size.

And looking on that site, i love the guy swearing at the Hummer from his V8 Jaguar. Pot calling the kettle black?

explorer4x4

2006-08-07 16:48

:D Ya, I once yelled at a guy in a Honda Civic Hybrid for hating the environment, because he had just thrown out a paper cup. I don't think people honestly care about nature, they just care about money and don't want to get hurt at the pump. I guess people who drive super-mini midget cars like a TH!NK City care about nature because they'd drive something so ugly.

Donington UK

2006-08-07 17:07

Thats pretty typical...also, what is so bad about the H3? It may be a Hummer, but it's no bigger than SUVs here....
I reckon if the TH!NK had been better looking, it would have been way more popular

explorer4x4

2006-08-07 17:11

If any midget car was better looking, with less radical styling and more common sense (the TH!NK makes ne THINK of raming it off a road) they'd all be more popular.

I did not say the H3 is ugly, I love it. Not as good as the H2 though. But the best looking HUMMER is the limited edition blue H2  .

You have a point there, Jags are pretty thirsty, but there's also the issue of taste and style, the Jag has that, the H2 doesn't.

Also Explorer4x4 says that people care about money, not the environment, the Prius is not cheap for a small, slow car, in Britain they cost nearly £20K, though it is debatable exactly how eco-friendly it is. I think it is more a car bought by a wealthier person trying to make statement about the environment, a lot of stars have them; Leonardo DiCaprio, Cameron Diaz, Tom Hanks, Larry David (of course I bet most of them will also own thirsty performance cars and probably an SUV), the average person with a family would be much better off with a decent spec VW Passat for that kind of money (and the diesel versions get good gas milages), so to an extent most people do care about money, they need to.

I actually got the chance to drive a Hummer H2 on an off-road track last week. I'm impressed at how well it handles off-road, but once I got back onto the pavement it handled badly. A 20-year-old Dodge pickup handles better than it on road. It's very bouncy and sways a lot and it was a little un-nerving. The gas mileage really turns me off. I wouldn't buy one (even if I could afford it), but it does seem to handle decently off-road (but then again, who really takes their expensive Hummer off-roading?).

explorer4x4

2006-08-08 18:10

But HUMMER's, Jeep's and Land Rover's homes is offroad. Not that people use them for offroading...
