This scene was the reenactment of Frank Serpico when he left the NYPD, New York and the US on the 15th June 1972. He first travelled to Switzerland to recuperate before ended up in the Netherlands where in 1973, he lived on a farm and married a local Dutch woman named Marianne before returning to New York in 1980, where they had a son named Alexander.
