'Thames 10cwt Personnel Carrier' [400E]

There was also a 'Thames Estate Car' [400E] version with different seating, but this was rarer being more expensive, which can be identified having bumper over-riders.

I read somewhere this was a Bedford Commer Dormobile.

That is rather strange. The 'Dormobile' is a camper conversion done by 'Martin Walter' using all sorts of vans and wagons as base vehicle.
The Bedford CA was well known:

Followed by the Bedford CF:

A Commer was also available:

And also one based on a Thames 400E:

I found one picture of a Thames without the special roof but listed under 'Dormobile':

I don't know if that roof window was a conversion done by Dormobile.
But the movie image hasen't even got such a window. So I guess we can keep it as it was.

While I am speaking of campers ... here is a nice one:

'Dormobile' was so popular at the time that it was applied to almost any van with windows even if it was not made by them. So the scriptwriters were only using a name that anyone would immediately know.

Aug/sept 62 plate.

It belonged to David Salamone who used it as a go- karting van when he was 11, and he was 21 at the time of filming :miam:

If so and the plate is not a total fake, 256 DNY would fit - July-Sept 59, Glamorgan - but someone has done some deliberate camouflage of last letter. DNW was Leeds Aug/Sept 62, DNV Northants Feb-March 63.
