It's not.

The 1974 has a different grille with more visible vertical dividers and a thicker chrome trim at the top of the grille. And by the way, the car at the foreground is also a 1973 (Riviera)and the black car that is partially visible behind people is also a 1973 full size Buick...

Is there any other frame that shows the black car better?

Maybe, I will some day rewatch the movie to add background cars that I may have left over last time.

As the movie was released in July 1974, it is most likely that very much of the material was filmed in 1973. I did not find any evidence (except for a Wikipedia note saying that production started in 1973), but considering that during most of the scenes it's summer, those scenes could not have been filmed in 1974. All the cutting and editing sure took some time so that the movie could not have been released in July 1974 if the material was filmed just that summer.

Seeing 1973 models as brand new cars at dealerships, just as shown here, is another hint towards my guess that most of the movie was actually filmed in the summer of 1973 and not 1974.

Isn't this at a Cadillac dealership?

@maxman this part of the car chase goes through all kinds of dealerships, Moran Cadillac Agency, Butler Buick, Prince Chrysler/Plymouth...

Look at the reflection of the camera man in the glass to the right.

Both cars are wearing Butler Buick dealer plates.
