I kind of remember this episode...something about a father and son operating a car lot, and then there's a question of 3 identical guns being involved in the murder??

Anyway...love late 50's Lincolns and Cadillacs!! :king: I can't remember if this is one of Mason's Lincolns or one of the guest-stars?? But, check out that awesome, stylishly detailed rear end of this awesome old Lincoln!! The chrome, style of tail-lights, fins, and design are awesome! Too bad that cars aren't made like this anymore. :( Man I wish I had one of these--a convertible would be my choice, but I'd still take this one if it was possible. :)

Is this one a 2-door or a 4-door? To me it's hard to tell??

Just off hand, it looks like a 2-door hardtop.
(That line that looks like a rear door seam is actually a shadow.)

I was thinking 2-door hardtop too...so does that make the "sedan" part of the description inaccurate? Or was there such a thing as a 2-door sedan? Also, was this that "glitch" you mentioned earlier about not being able to put in hardtops here or something?

It could well be a Continental Mark III Coupe [65A], but it´s a long time since I made the clips and I don´t have the episodes left, so I´m not sure.

That's cool...no big deal. :) I just noticed the "sedan" in the car's description above, and it looks like the car does not have 4-doors. I have the episode (as I have all of them) on DVD, and sometime soon I'll have to get it out and see. I love old Lincolns, and trying to figure out which model is which. :)

"The Case of the Long-Legged Models"...and I was right, it had to do with 3 identical guns, and a used car lot. I'm watching this episode as I type...and I just saw the pic above. It was a Lincoln 2-door Continental of some kind. It looked like a 2-door hardtop to me...but was the coupe similar?

By the way, the Lincoln was one of the guest-stars wife's in the episode, and not Mason's. His car in this episode is also on the page of pics...a 1958 Ford Fairlane 500 Skyliner--my 2nd least favorite car Mason occasionally used in the first couple seasons. My least favorite was the original to this car...the 57 Fairlane Skyliner. ;) His Lincolns and Caddys were way more awesome! :)

Coupe was the name used for the 2-door Hardtop, the 4-doors were named Landau at this point. Looking back to what could be originally classified as Coupe or Landau we´ll find something with another appearance in both cases.

Here´s the 1958 models from Continental & Lincoln:

All 2-door cars in the Lincoln and Continental lines were hardtops in '58, '59 and '60.
Unfortunately, this site only allows the choice between "sedan" and "coupe". We REALLY could use more classifications.

I see the description has been changed to "coupe." This would be more accurate since this Lincoln was a 2-door and not a 4-door. Awesome episode and car! :)

That's a convertible; you can tell by the bumps behind the rear window necessary to clear the top when folded.

the top seems hard.. is it like Ford's Skyliner ?

This has been mis-identified for over 6 years. Somename is correct. This is a convertible for the reason he stated.
(It's hard to get one past somename on these cars.)

^Thanks Commander 57!

In answer to your question Baube; it is not a hardtop convertible it just has a metal frame around the back to provide structure for the glass rear window.

thanks somename :)

i couldn't see the folds ( or bends ? ) that a soft top has on this pic that's why i thought it was a hard one but they are easily visible in your link
