This is a US E38 750iL is used in quite a few scenes in this movie. No really aggressive driving though...maybe one scene - where the tire blows out, and Michael Douglas makes it fish-tail around a turn. Otherwise it's driven casually. This car is equipped with after-market wheels. Some awesome camera work of the car though. Great exterior and interior shots. There's a weird scene where the starter motor re-engages just after starting (when Michael Douglas leaves the hotel in a hurry) - apparently the E38 750iL has a unique starter motor system, where you do not have to hold the key down to start it. Just quickly turn the key, and let go, and the computer figures out how long to engage the starter to make the engine turn over. If you like the E38, watch this film. Great film all together. Must See!

This is a `95-`97 E38 750iL. `95 was the 1st model year in the US for the E38.

There is no badge on the boot lid so you cannot tell for sure that this is a top-of-the-range 750iL, but the Michael Douglas character is pretty rich so he could probably afford one.

It's a lightly-armoured BMW 740iL Protection.

By sound, the car seemed to have the free-breathing V8 (the torquey V12 sounded different) The V8 sound itself was for sure authentic.
The car’s color appeared to be Solid Jet Black - Cosmos Black had a Metallic finish.

At one point in the film, the car catches air down a alleyway as Nicholas (Michael Douglas) tries to escape with Christine (Deborah Kara) from
the CRS group. When the big BMW lands, it’s belly hits the road and sparks dance out from under it.

I'm not sure if I would trust the way a car sounds in a film (remember sounds can be over-dubbed). I remember Wickey said a Mercedes on one of the Bond films must be a diesel because it sounded like one, but I saw the boot badge and it wasn't.

Definitely sounds like an M62 V8 (would therefore be a 740iL given the US market) from the driving footage as opposed to an obvious dub from some other audio sample (it's possible that the audio was taken from another car, but not *probable* as it just wouldn't be worth the effort. All the audio from driving footage is consistent with the sounds the V8 makes.

The front image used above also shows the kidneys having matt black vertical slats, not the chromed vertical slats that were on the 750iL.

If I remember the director's commentary correctly, all the car sound effects were specially recorded using the same make and model as far as possible. However, the sound recording was done on a race track in the USA, presumably with US-spec cars.

They used at least two cars in the movie, one with black roof lining, the other with light gray.

And those wheels do not look stock to me. ;)

Factory wheels that were chromed and center cap changed?

Those wheels are NOT BMW stock wheels. There is a scene where the car is started, see my old comments above, it sounds a lot like a V-12 starter. The 740iLs were more available. Would have to see more shots of the car to be certain. And there were no chrome/aluminum slats in the kidney grilles for 750s. The E38s especially, some late Euro E32s had them but that's it.

It's indicated in the IMDb trivia section that the sound was recorded by a member of the sound team who borrowed a friends BMW 540... although, there is no proof to guarantee this.

None of the shots were suitable?

These shots are ok. But your source (Amazon Prime streaming video?) is not really 960 pixels.
