Are they a dance band from the 1950s?? |

No, fourteen is not enough musicians for a proper dance band, and with the exception of the Northern Dance Orchestra, and possibly Geraldo, they were no longer playing on the wireless. Reg. Bassett was still playing at Trentham Gardens Ballroom well into the 1960s, I have danced there on many occasions. There was always the Crystal at Newcastle or if things were really tight, the Top of the World at Stafford. The Police Ball was always good, though, saw Humphrey Lyttelton’s jazz band there. -- Last edit: 2022-05-30 14:17:37 |
