So what made me think that it was a real one is because I read an article that said Ford was instrumental in developing the project. They let the filmmakers film in their archives department, and they also helped the producers track down Bronco's to use in the filming. Also in the last scene of the movie they film in the Ford Museum in Dearborn, and then they lead "John Bronco" behind a door to see the new Bronco and he starts screaming about how amazing it is.
