Why the doubt?

Because I wasn't sure? I don't know British cars at all, my reference pic was this:

The problem is to sort out which Jaguar.

Try this for starters, btw, I don’t know which it is either.

The small headlights may mean 1 1/2 litre, but I am usually wrong.

Extra view added for an idea of bonnet length, long 2½ litre or short 1½ litre? At a quick look it appears short to me but may have to try counting louvres.

I guess the headlamp size is a good indicator but there is something about them that looks to me they have been changed to something more modern?

A respectful request, where possible extra views and ideally the time-stamp are often helpful to aid identification.

It's no problem for me for readilly available movies or TV series and I find I watch movies that I would otherwise miss out on, but it can save time.

It appears to have fewer louvres than seen on the 2½ litre, therfore 1½ litre.

Agree 1½ litre - it just looks narrow across wings and/or grille. I don't really have an eye in on these, but my book lists 2½ litre and 3½ litre as 6" wider as well as about 12" longer.

Comparing the two, other than the headlamps, I would have trouble determining the larger car from the front, only a general impression of a lighter or heavier overall appearance.

The cars used in modern productions have also been, in most cases, the subject of probably necessary refurbishment or modification work. The subject car is an example, Sunbar comments about the headlamps, my notice was of those wheels, and the paint finish. Although an expensive car, I don’t think that many of them ever looked this good after a year or two, and my memory is that they were mostly black or a sort of silver grey. I know how much money can be spent on these type of cars and it would not be much less than doing a Bentley, especially a six cylinder Jaguar.
