In the Stephen King novella, they drove an International Scout, but it was described as a 4 door (making it a Travelall). The Land Cruiser is a pretty good substitute.

Honestly, from what I've seen in the previews, it looks like it'll be remarkably true to the story, other than making nutty Mrs. Carmody a younger woman.

Land Cruiser has a starring role and is mentioned by name at least one time.

In one scene, the protagonist gives his keys to one of the main characters and tells her that the "land cruiser" is hers now, and that she should take his boy and leave if he does not come back from a trip to a nearby building.

Later, they make a run for the landcruiser and drive it away.

I missed the first 15 minutes or so and when they mentioned "land cruiser", I was hoping for an 80 series, but no, they had to go vintage on us ;-)

This is an FJ55 built from 1967 until 1980. I love this vehicle, although I wouldn't have minded seeing an International Harvester Travelall :)

I thought it was awesome that it was mildly modified as well. (the obvious, lightbar, 4 roof lights, front bumper, winch, 4 more lights, spotlight)

Great choice!

If it were the end of the world, a Land Cruiser would be the ideal vehicle to be using :-)

I'd take a 1971 Land Rover 190" Series III Station Wagon outfitted similarly to this Land Cruiser.

My son and I had the pleasure of getting a close up look at this Landcruiser in Shreveport, Louisiana. We spotted it at a gas station next to the Broadmoor Library. The owner was a great guy, he let us check it out inside and out, he left it exactly like it was in the movie. I neglected to get his name and address, however, wish i had in case he ever decides to sell it. I'm assuming it it still here in the SBC. Im an owner of an fj80 Landcruiser, and a King fan. So it was a real treat for me. If i ever see it again i'll try to rent it for an indy creature feature of my own

I think and this is my opinion that this generation of Land Cruiser is the coolest looking and most off road oriented even though all of them are.
