Yes Volvo 960 or S90 (not a 850, there are no moldings on left and right side of the Roof) also possible 940 SE US vesion they had the same Alloy Hood like the 960/S90

960 of course.

2 Volvist - never saw a 940 with the long hood and covered wipers - do you have a photo of such a car?

Hello Wickey, a friend has a Brochure from the 940 SE (USA) I think this Cars are real rare, they have produced them because the 960
was not already finished for the US-Market (Emission-Laws etc.) in autumn 1990. The 960 Series was introduced in autumn 1991 as model year 1992 in
the States. The 940 Se had the same front like 960 and the Multi Link rear Axle.
The normal 940 GLE and Turbo had the similar Bodystyle like the European Versions and the same rear Axle
With kind regards Volvist

Interesting, thanks did not knew that.
Did they have the B230 engines? (I mean those 940 SEs)

Hey Wickey,
yes this Cars was equipped with the fantastic B230FT with 162 bhp, now I have found a Road Test in my Collection made by Road+Track in July 1991
and it is amazing the SE Versions have also the same Dashboard like the 960.
Something that is also strange the first 960is for Japan had the old Euro V6 as standard

well at the end of 80s, early 90s they really had a mess with the names/types etc...

These info complicates that a bit more.

example:

740 since 1989 made with different headlights, but only for lower models.
740 Turbo since 1989 had front from later 940.
740 Turbodiesel since 1989 were with both types of the front (as 740 and 740 Turbo)

760 since 1988 had the 960 face, new dashboard and Multilink rear axle.

940 were normal, but I saw some 1992 940 wagons in the US with the small headlights front from regular 1989 740 and now you learned me about these SEs, which are basically re-badged 960s (as they have all the symptoms of being a 960)

960s introduced new B6304 engine, but still was made with the old B280 (I knew about Australian market, now you learned me about Japan as well), but also with the D24TIC.. (probably just few first months). Also they did have B230 Turbo engines, but during the whole production till facelift..

Anyway as we can see, the 700/900 range is sometimes pretty much difficult to recognize (especially late 760 wagons vs. early 940/960 wagons - almost impossible)
