Which one? I see a Mercury next to the early-1960's Lincoln Continental.

We have a gaggle of early 1960's FoMoCo products.

I can see a 1961 Lincoln Continental at "11:00 o'clock" and it is surrounded by bunch of 1961 Mercury's. Most likely all Monterey's. Just a bit of product placement?

Yeah, it looks like they raided a L-M dealership.

Yes its a good example of product placement in a 61 American TV series.

One exception to this is Lassie 1954-1973, mainly the Timmy years (57-64). The vehicles used by the main characters were Chryslser, e.g. the family first had a 57 Dodge Coronet then the next season (along with new cast for parents) a 58 Dodge step-side pickup, and the vet had a 57 or 58 Chrylser New Yorker. Supporting characters would use anything the studio could get it's hands on, however. In one episode, a doctor had a nice 59 Olds 98 Holiday with Vista-Panoramic glass, in another, a teenage girl had a 57 Bel Air convt. A 1960 Ford Country Sedan got a lot of mileage throughout one season. One episode had it belong a father whose boy lost his dog (and it died giving birth), then in the next episode it's used by the gas company to survey for a new pipeline whose construction would remove a neighbor's barn.

Hard to beleive some of those shows could be as shameless as they are now, what with the Transformers movie, but often the actors in classic tv shows would perform commercials for their sponsors. Mister Ed was sponsored by Studebaker. Gold star to whoever finishes reading this.

The reason for all these FoMoCo products was the fact that the show was sponsored by the Ford Motor Company!
