A fair deduction. With the light reflection on the top I cannot determine with any certainty which style of radiator grille it has. So assuming it was the later style can be said to be conjecture, speculation, or wild guesstimation (I think). Of that I am 100% certain! |

For something else 'completely different... Looking at the Austin Seven's van's headlights the off-side looks lower than the passenger side by about a couple of inches. Was that usual on the 1930 cars? I've noticed a lot in the last week on some Standard saloons; not all but some. By design or accident? If the off-side was main-beam only did that have any effect? |

In t’olden days, before King Joe invented the 700, there were various types of headlight dipping, involving solenoids to move reflectors, lights that went out, and auxiliary lights fitted on bumpers, inter alia. I have a pal whose 1924 Humber has a rod and crank system to point both lights downhill a bit. Cheap cars, say plebeian makes below 12hp, usually had the offside headlight extinguished, (I think) and the nearside either dipped by double filament bulbs or by resistance being included in the circuit to dim the bulb a bit. I have no knowledge of uneven placing of headlights, excepting the Provincial RT buses from AEC. Regarding the rear of the saloon only partly seen. Only if we can say the front view here is probably the same Austin Eight. Not enough seen of the rear to be of interest on its own I think. |
