But for the Merc bus: It was very old and what happen to old vehicles nowadays? - They go to Africa for example and back then probably too. I just can say what they said in the episodes where these scenes are set...

Nice anecdote, but definitely without any coherence. Abroad there was never any connection between East and West German expats. A time ago I talked with the guy, who was the W50- and MZ-representant in Egypt. And I read the same in books about Nicaragua and Vietnam in the 80ies.
