My first thought was Neoplan. Or maybe it's something locally built or made for Nicaragua? |

Are we even sure this scene was filmed in Managua ? There's a german Hanomag-Henschel truck, and an old - and equally german - Mercedes-Benz bus. |

Not sure, I don't find any information about the real filming locations. But for the Merc bus: It was very old and what happen to old vehicles nowadays? - They go to Africa for example and back then probably too. I just can say what they said in the episodes where these scenes are set... |

Hi Mystery Man, First thought, best thought! even more astonishing: a man from KFZ Instandhaltung Plauen was in Nicaragua 1985 - 1988 and later became boss of Neoplan Plauen Neoplan was the first specializing in airport busses, Basically a Jetliner was it made for Managua airport, or locally assembled in Middle- or South America? There has been a plant in Ghana for e.g. http://www.auwaerter-neoplan-fotoarchiv.de/kategorie.php?id=37 -- Last edit: 2019-07-16 01:12:23 |

Nice anecdote, but definitely without any coherence. Abroad there was never any connection between East and West German expats. A time ago I talked with the guy, who was the W50- and MZ-representant in Egypt. And I read the same in books about Nicaragua and Vietnam in the 80ies. |

Yes, it seems it was simply a special order for german main plant, special in that way: make it look like american bus. |
