One of the world's most expensive cars |

A Bugatti costs more than this. This car only comes in a roadster. It looks new. |

He did not say "the most" |
◊ 2008-02-23 05:08 |
No it doesn't. I think there is a convertible version (not sure), but most are hardtops. |
◊ 2008-02-23 05:30 |
I don't think the convertible has been released yet. If it has, it hasn't come to America yet. |

Why not get an Audi R8?? It is SO much cheaper and has million dollar looks! Why pay half a million dollars for THAT?? |
◊ 2008-03-01 02:58 |
Good point. Does the SLR outaccelerate the R8? |
◊ 2008-03-01 03:06 |
Yes,Considering the SLR has 617bhp and the R8 (only.!) 414bhp.! SLR 0 to 60mph in 3.8 secs 0 to 100mph 7.7 secs R8 0 to 60mph in 4.4 secs 0 to 100mph 10.5 secs |
◊ 2008-03-01 03:18 |
I don't think the R8 was in production while this was being filmed. |
◊ 2008-03-01 03:40 |
That is correct MBSL65fan. |
◊ 2008-03-01 03:41 |
When the R8 receives the 5.2L V10, it should be able to catch the SLR. Maybe the R8 outhandles the SLR stronghold. -- Last edit: 2008-03-01 03:42:27 |

I personally would prefer the R8 whatever engine.! ..and I'd guess (as you said) the R8 can outhandle the SLR |
◊ 2008-03-01 13:05 |
personally I would prefer a SLR - come on - sportscar from Audi??? |
◊ 2008-03-01 16:05 |
Why? Do you think that Audi doesn't produce sports cars? Do you think that the R8 isn't a sports car ? Come on Wickey... |
◊ 2008-03-01 16:16 |
I ment it in a way, that Audi is basically not a producer of sportscars - compared to McLaren. And I do not like the R8s design anyway |
◊ 2008-03-01 18:27 |
Well, Audi made the Quattro (ok it is just a coupé and not a supercar, but wasn't Mercedes more or less in the same case?) I also prefer the R8 which I find nice-looking; I do not like the SLR. |

Built in the UK, at Portsmouth and the McLaren Technology Centre in Woking, Surrey, England. |

The SLR hasn't an own styling-line in my opinion. It's a blown up SL/SLK with design-attachments from the 50ies, like the air-holes from the 300 Gullwing. Retro-styling, following BMW with their Z8 (which has design-loans from the legendary 507), too. Or see the 2008 Ford Mustang "Bullit" Always poor and weak tries, to catch reputation nowadays with great ideas from the history. Yes, nothing more than poor. You cannot beat the originals. Never. |

Honestly, I'd rather buy the R8 and pocket the extra $400k. For a fraction of what I saved I could make the R8 better. |

What made me fall in love with the SLR McLaren. Being a kids movie, I'm sure this was more of a ploy to introduce kids to supercars. |
