dsl ◊ 2018-01-31 19:14	There were changes in regulations. Until 1964/65, (white) sidelights were also allowed to flash as indicators. Then it was specified that indicators had to become orange and could only be used as flashers when needed; many UK cars had anticipated this change since early 1960s, but others needed to change (see also Consul Cortina vs Cortina Mk1 etc). So in September 1965 Anglia had white sidelights together with orange indicators, so both functions existed side by side. A year later - about September 1966 - the sidelights were removed to leave just the orange indicators, with the previous sidelight function now performed by a headlight setting. As pretty well all UK lights were provided by the much respected firm of Lucas, this probably just meant fitting a different headlight model - could easily have been same/similar type as always used on the Mini. And Ford probably saved a few pence per car in production costs.
