I don't find this likely to be a [W 112] 300 SE, but rather a [W 111] 280 SE. 1968+ because of the wheel covers. The reason why is the lack of a chrome strip at waist. That strip was present on all [W 112]-models, but rarely on the [W 111]. |

The first thumb indicates that it has the 1968+ grille with fewer "squares" between each chrome dividing strip. Earlier versions had eight "squares" while later had only five. It also has shows that it has round, rather than flat, head lamp covers. As the flat ones were introduced on MY 1969, this should, if not changed because of some reason, indicate it is of MY 1968, only. Second thumb shows that it has a vinyl dash board top. If 300 SE [W 112] it should have had a wooden top. The rounded top of the horn ring also indicate 1968+. I find very little doubt this is anything else than a 1968 Mercedes-Benz 280 SE Cabriolet [W 111]. |
