The shape of the radiator indicates a Standard, I'd say. |

Or else Minerva. |

I'd stay with Standard. The car looks very similar (though it isn't the same) as the 1913 Standard 20hp Landaulette that Lord and Lady Baden-Powell got as a wedding present from the Boy Scouts (who payed voluntary the maximum of one penny each...). |

I would agree with 'Standard'. |

If you compare the radiator shape of the 1910 Standard on this page - http://www.britishmm.co.uk/history.asp?id=842 with the Minervas on this page - http://clubs.hemmings.com/clubsites/wokr/gallery/Gallery6.htm - particularly this one - http://clubs.hemmings.com/clubsites/wokr/gallery/min_02.htm - you see why I contend that this is a Minerva. Notice the curved top of the radiator on the Minerva compared with the almost straight top sides of the Standard. |

It does look like a Minerva... |

Next thing now is to work out which model. There were two sleeve-valve fours in the pre WW1 years - the 14hp 2.3 litre model JJ and the 18hp 3.8 litre model EE. I would guess this is one of the smaller ones. It would date from around 1914. |

This 1911 Minerva... "featured in the 1995 film The Englishman Who Went Up A Hill And Came Down A Mountain"... Pictured on location during filming. http://www.shropshiremagazine.com/2009/02/a-first-class-carriage/ "On television, she was used in the 1983 BBC drama The Weather in the Streets with Joanna Lumley and Michael York, which was filmed at Mawley Hall, Cleobury Mortimer, and The Monocled Mutineer, starring Paul McGann, in 1986, which was filmed by the BBC partly in Staffordshire." Searching for the actual type, its apparently a Minerva 16cv Type WT from 1910. Link to "www.motorbase.com" |
