folks,Very strange, because here is annother one: /vehicle_103670-Audi-80-Estate-Typ-80-1976.html Both cars are definetely US-versions, but the locations are in Britain. So again the question, if indeed in Britain the VW Passat Variant was sold in its US-version as an Audi Fox Wagon Or perhaps as a VW Dasher Wagon? If yes, why? The Passat Variant was sold regulary in the UK, too. So why they sold the US-version, too? btw.somewhere around there must be an identical car (but from an US-series), listed as "unkown", because we weren't sure, if it was a Dasher or a Fox. At last this discussion is obsolete anyways. The only difference was the grille and a few badges. Both versions were build only in the VW-plant in Emden, where all Passat's were/are built (except a few in 1973/74, which were mounted together with the K 70 in the plant in Salzgitter). Annother one: /vehicle_51112-Audi-80-Estate-Typ-80-1974.html ![]() US-bumpers, but no US-lamps -- Last edit: 2009-02-19 11:20:02 |

![]() This car can indeed listed as an Audi 80 Estate! I just read a short notice in an classic-car-magazine, that the Passat Variant [Typ32] was indeed sold in South Africa and Britain(!) as an Audi 80 Estate, in the USA as an Audi Fox Wagon. It was a regular Passat, where just the Audi-front was mounted (which was very easy for the pre-1977-versions). And -I didn't know that- in 1977 it had the facelifted Audi-front like that: /vehicle_150329-Audi-80-Typ-82-1977.html No big deal anyways, you had to change the fenders, too. Real interesting, that in Britain and South Africa these cars also had the US-bumpers. |
