1965 Hillman Super Minx Series III. |

1963 Hillman Super Minx series 2 (1598cc, first of the flat rear screens, still with white front indicators) Originally white with a red stripe. Should have had twin-chrome strip down the sides. Red vinyl interior. Painted BMC Black Tulip in about 2002. Tow hitch and reversing light fitted some time in the 80's. Peco Big Bore 2 exhaust pipe, fitted after the engine backfired and blew the original silencer can to pieces. Vehicle originally bought as spares, but soon thereafter discovered to be in remarkably good condition. Only rust on vehicle at the time was the rear right wheel spat, the leading edge of the bonnet and around the base of the windscreen. It'd had replacement sills at some point, that's why you can see the lines don't quite match. Had a habit of chewing up contact breaker points. |

Not sure what info is accurate here. Has Mk3 onwards cabin and the single side strip of the Mk4 (but no front wing badge and is a repaint, so Mk4 evidence unsafe). Despite the claim that it was a Mk2 from someone who apparently knows the car, the cabin means it has to be Sept 64 onwards Mk3, as Dynamike originally said, which would match the statement that it is 1592cc. -- Last edit: 2010-10-31 00:11:50 |

Got my model years mixed up then. In that case it's a Mk3- it originally had the twin side-strip, the lower strip was removed by persons unknown after me. The vehicle is marked as first registration 11th Jan 1965 according to the DVLA. Been nearly a decade since I last saw it... Looking at the papers I was getting mixed up with my other Super Minx. My memory isn't that great any more. |

1965 registration date would match Mk3 (= Series 3 in Rootes-speak). |
