srosenow_98 ◊ 2007-09-22 20:54	I've got some news, guys. The truck wasn't a 1975 as previously mentioned. Take a look at the Kenworth grille emblem when you watch the movie next time. It's chrome with a gold background. That emblem only appeared on Kenworth trucks which were manufactured in 1973, and were painted gold to signify Kenworth's 50 years in business. -- Last edit: 2007-09-22 20:57:50

The 1973 Kenworth W900A with the Brush Guard this truck is long gone now 4. The 1969 Kenworth W900A used in the scene were snowman gets beat up and even before he gets beat up cause when he pulls into the gas station where he gets beat up it's still this truck just listen to the motor it's a 4 stroke Detroit

But i love that truck still. I think its better than the GMC General in SATB 2, how about you?

They used (3) W900 Kenworth\'s for the movie. 2 were from 1974(Gold &chrome logos), and 1 from 1973(gold logos-50th anniv.). As far as paint codes for the truck---Black Coffee is main color. NOT true Black! It\'s really a true dark Brown. 2 blocks of Gold wrap around the sleeper and goes to the front of the truck. Super thin Gold pinstripes accent the front fenders. The Black Coffee paint is also used for---air intake/cleaners, front center hubs, and on rear hubs, gas tank straps, door steps, and chassis. Interior was Black Splendor with light Beige roof, also on the \'74\'s featured some kind of 400HP V8 Catapiller engine & the other \'74 featured a VT-903 400HP Cummins Engine, the \'73 featured some type of 13 Speed Transmission because look in the interror shots, the top of the gear shifter was Chrome all 13 Speed Gear shifters were like that, & I don\'t know what type of engine the \'73 KW featured. For those curious about the mural trailer used in the movie---it\'s made by company--Hobbs(anti-sail reefer). Thermo-King unit installed. THO personally I think the Thermo-King Unit is a fake since there\'s NO reefer fuel tank under the trailer. Hope this helps. WHERE IS THE TRUCK!!!!! -Blaze atleast we all agree on one thing that atleast one of the trucks used in the movie was a \'73 Kenworth W-900 the only thing that I noticed that we are all wrong on it that we everybody else besides me thinks that ALL THE TRUCKS FROM THE MOVIE ARE 1973\'s and to tell the truth we are all wrong under this movie truck including me! the 2 main trucks were 2 \'74 Kenworth W-900\'s while the third truck which is the real\'73 KW that was used for all the interrior shots & very few exterrior shots! the two \'74 KW\'s have been known to burn down in a ware house back in \'79 also with last known trailer surviving from the Movie & the oly trailer that was used during the filming of the Great Smokey Roadblock! the \'73 KW might still exist today! I repaeat MAYBE it still exist From what I hear a Farmer in Nebraska bought the truck back in a auction in 1980 and took the sleeper off it! the truck is know a daycab rig! another fact I hear is another farmer from Chicago bought it in the early 90\'s and still uses it today to haul a cattle trailer, In my mind the year of the truck should be changed and confirmed to 1974, seeing we have the main truck in the big main picture on top of all of our posts! I don\'t mind it being left as the year a \'73 But I think were should have the right year with the right truck! 4x4 23 ◊ 2009-11-19 01:49	tonkaTRACKER wrote sometimes I wish we didn't list any trucks, as that would alleviate all the useless bickering about them. if you don't believe me look at this topic on Hankstruckforum.com look at the very last post! and Blaze also helps run the BJ and the Bear fanclub also & have found numerous BJ and the Bear trucks, so I am absoulty sure that that is 100% accurate info on a sacle of 1% to 100% so the year of this truck needs to be switched and confirmed to 1974 there is a '73 but, that was Truck #3 the 2 original trucks were '74's and the original truck as in Truck #1 the truck that was the '73 was the truck that was later mounted with the brush guard in the front of the grill, the original truck was a '74 KW which is the Picture above in the big main picture that truck featured some kind of V8 400HP Cat engine, the other '74 was the truck that featured a 400HP VT-903 Cummins Engine & I believe the 3rd truck featured some kind of 350HP detroit engine listen to the engine when snowman pulls into the driveway of the dinner that he gets beat up at the truck featured some kind of detroit, for the snowmans trailer there was only 2 of them! on was ahuled by the original '74 KW & the other trailer was hauled by the other '74 KW if the '73 KW hauled a trailer, it hauled the trailer that wasen't going to be used in the next scene, but the '73 was mostly put on a low bed and used for the interrior Shots! look at the interview that mentioned it another post up above, from what I hear the 2 original trucks & 2 trailers from the movie burnt down in a ware house back in '79 on Universal Studio Truck Lots the third truck was auctioned off from Universal Studio's in '80 from what I hear over the internet but the location of this truck after '97 is unknown! i've also heard from numerous of forums that the surviving truck was turned into a day cab rig the expensive way such as the sleeper was taken off & also the back shell of the cab was taken off with that wholw that was in back of the cab for the sleeper all I know is it's just a plain ol' small window in the back of that cab now! but every thing else on the truck still remains the same except the brush guard! while the 2 original trucks were coffe black & gold the third truck was a gloss black & gold reffer to the photo up above of the truck going through the road block that features the brush guard on it, to see what I'm talking about, also reffer to that photo on the stacks also notice the curls put on the stacks are shiny, well on the 2 original trucks they were fated & the same color as the stacks! NFL Player did infact own one the trucks used in the in movie it was actually the '73 Kenworth W-900 "Truck #3" before filming he upgrades his trucks every 3 years & this movie was filmed in '76 so you know it was 3 years old when it was in the movie, after that truck he bought another kenworth W-900A that was featured at the beginning of this film for a short clip it was the truck Kirk had at the begining "The Yellow & White KW" I believe it was a '77 Kenworth W-900A here's the link check it out below http://www.hankstruckpictures.com/forum01/index.php?topic=1459.0 I do know he also owned the '79 Blue & White Peterbilt 359 in Smokey and the Bandit II that "Big Joe" was driving then he purcahsed the original GMC General from SATB2 an then sold that truck in '83 and bought Snowman's Peterbilt 359 from SATHB3 & he still also owns the '82 Peterbilt 359 from SATB3 he's currently living in Penn. if anyone wants to see the truck! also here's a trick to telling the difference's in the trucks look at the big main picture the KW logo on the is chrome so that's on of the '74 KW's, look at the first post antp posted some thumb nails that were sent in by Trucker, look at the last & the picture on the bottom that's the second truck it's a chrome Logo that's the other '74 KW, look at weasel1984's last thumb nail picture that has a 50th anniversery gold logo on the hood that's the '73 KW! also in that same photo look at the color & stacks and you'll see what I mentioned up above about me sayin' the '73 was different from the 2 '74 KW's, whose smart now BanditTA1977! the only thing different that you can tell the 2 '74 KW's by beside the sound the of the engine look at the radio am/fm antenna by the drivers stack the one of the original truck is just as high as the stack & the other '74 KW's antenna was just a little slighty taller than the roof! thruck #3 had the same antenna as Truck #1 but look again when snowman busts through the red wooden gate & drives out on the racin' track to deliever the load to there customers it's the '73 KW but the antenna was down so that means the those 2 radio am/fm antenna's of Truck #2 & #3 were switched during filming, truck #3 also was the truck that took the wide corner after the snowman comes through, it was also used in alabama after the bandit leaves the gas station & siad over the CB radio "Hello Snowman I am right beside you" also the convoy with MR.B in it the first truck was a Blue Peterbilt 359 the original '74 KW was used in the whole except to pass the first truck in the convoy & move back into the other lane from the passing lane it was also used in the whole scene when snowman gets pulled over by the cop that was on the motorcyle & like I said ut was used a the dinner where Snowman gets beat up! I also know it was also used in the spacific to hit Buford's cop into the ditch after tring to pass him to try & catch the Bandit and that's all I rememeber the '73 being used in the movie except for all the interrior shots! so, like i said please switch the year of this truck character on the forum from 1973 to 1974! -- Last edit: 2009-11-19 02:15:03

midnight_trucker ◊ 2023-06-13 09:03	There was three Kenworth Trucks used to film Smokey and the Bandit and I don't care for those who want to argue up and down that there was only two trucks used to film Smokey and the Bandit when the evidence clearly doesn't point to that The first truck that was primary used in the film was a 1974 Kenworth W-925 that had a 1693 400HP Cat Engine with a 13 Speed Transmission This truck hasn't surfaced since 1979, So, It is more than likely long gone today The second truck was also a 1974 Kenworth W-925 that had an NTC-400HP Cummins Engine with a 13 Speed Transmission This truck also hasn't surfaced since 1979, So, It is more than likely long gone today This truck appears in the film when pulling up to pulling up to and outside of the Coors Beer Warehouse in Texarkana (I know it's Georgia in the film i'm just giving other's a brief idea of where to look for the truck in the film), At Snowman's house, When Bandit & Snowman cross back the Georgia state line including when Snowman gets pulled over by the cop on the motorcycle, after Snowman runs through the road block of the cop cars near the end of the film with the exception of the wide corner before Snowman crashes through the red wooden fence and drives across the race track and than not the last time this truck appears in the film is not to long after the Bandit smashes through the mailboxes on the side of the road The last truck used in the film was a 1973 Kenworth W-925 that Joe Klecko had sold the film production while the two 1974 Kenworth W-925's used in the film had came from JT Jenkins which is the same dealer that had supplied Hollywood with some of the trucks for B.J. and the Bear The 1973 Kenworth W-925 had a VT-903 350HP Cummins Engine with a 13 Speed Transmission This truck appears in the film while driving in the rain followed by the night time scene the Snowman was known to be driving the truck, At the opening race track scene, When Snowman honks the horn at the boys that pull over to change the flat tire on Carrie's car, In the majority of the scene the Bandit smashes through the mailboxes on the side of the road, At old miss lake, when the Snowman passes the lead Blue truck in the rocking chair, When Bandit says to Snowman "Hello there Snowman I am right beside you and it looks like we have a clear shot to the Alabama state line" and most importantly this truck appears at the biker bar that the Snowman gets beat up gets beat up at or shortly before when the old lady warns the Bandit over the CB Radio that he better not go a certain way because there's been a little fender bender Another few times this truck appears in the film is that it is seen with a big grill guard in front of the grill when it is running through the road block of cop cars near the end of the film, when the truck takes wide corner after Snowman runs through the road block of the cop cars near the end of the film and also when Snowman crashes through the red wooden fence and drives across the race track into the pits to the end of the film During filming this 1973 truck was mainly used for interior shots and was rigged with Camera's and put onto a lowbed at times for filming Overdrive Magazine was also on the set of Smokey and the Bandit and had featured the film in their May of 1977 copy and it was in there that they mention that there was three trucks used to film Smokey and the Bandit They were actually advertising their Overdrive Magazine Cover of White Line Fever in the beginning race track scene of Smokey and the Bandit So, The truck should be listed as a 1974 Kenworth W-925 on this site -- Last edit: 2023-06-13 09:05:07

The only piece of evidence on there being 3 trucks is a tiny clip from an Overdrive magazine article. There are only 2 trucks that show up at once in pictures, so unless there was a 3rd for California filming (which makes no sense), or there was a 3rd for just filming interior shots, then there are only 2, 1 being a 1973 and 1 being a 1974. Also, you mention that they haven't showed up since 1979, when the movie came out in 1977? Nobody knows where they went after 1977.

I'm not going off of visual people who want to make claims...I'm going to go people who were actually there on set So, If you want to go with the theory that there is only two trucks used through out the whole entire film based off of visual from the film than that's just you I've also seen David in his interviews and he isn't god either
midnight_trucker ◊ 2023-12-06 18:50	So, The rumor of these trucks burning down after filming was completed is a big rumor that often follow these trucks for years, But, I also know George Sack which is the owner of Hollywood Universal Studio Truck Lots and he has even told me that the trucks did remain on his back lot a couple years after filming had completed, But, Each and every truck was sold in 1979 and I also seen some interaction with Robb Mariani on his Facebook page which is who hosted American Trucker in which it was on his show that it was said that the truck is currently sitting in a hay field in Arkansas and Robb Mariani did say that he did follow the lead and later did find out that the lead was also a hoax One rumor last rumor to put to bed about these trucks is that none of the trucks used to film Smokey and the Bandit are currently in the Iowa 80 truck museum The trailer also seen in the walking dead episode was also a much more newer replica trailer made to look old that had skirts on it and for those who know trucks know that skirts weren't such a thing on trailers at the time Smokey and the Bandit was being filmed So, Anyway, With that said the trucks for the first film had ended up coming from JT Jenkins which is also the very same place that had ended up supplying the trucks for The Great Smokey Roadblock with in the same year, the stunt truck for Thunder Run and atleast two of the five Aerodyne's for B.J. and the Bear The trucks used in the pilot episodes of both B.J. and the Bear and Movin' On along with Will Chandler's Kenworth Cabover from the pilot episode of Movin' On also probably more than likely came from JT Jenkins as well, Too, But, The trucks with the double sleepers used in the actual series of Movin' On were a whole complete different thing all together and had came from a different source all together instead of being supplied by JT Jenkins JT Jenkins had many terminals, But, These trucks had all initially came from the Los Angeles terminal The stickers are seen on the truck during filming that provide that theory Again, I don't care what anyone else has to say as I know George Sack which is a much more better and reliable source than what any visual person that is a fan of the film that wasn't even on the set of the film like George Sack was would say
