The interesting thing about this car is that it is actually a "Sports Roadster" model, a very very early model.... and obviously it had been recalled to the dealer due to the problem with the Wire Wheels. After a catastrophic failure of three of the four wheels on Elvis Presley's Rangoon Red Sports Roadster, and a few other wheel failures, Ford recalled all the Sports Roadster models, temporarily replacing the wheels with stock steel wheels and wheel covers until a suitable replacement could be fitted. The early Kelsey Hayes wheels were recalled, and newer designed wheels with beefier and more spokes were added.... This car also seems to have the tonneau cover removed as well. This shot was from an episode called "Showdown with Rance McGrew" starring Larry Blyden. |
