Though a period car for the series, not ordinary traffic: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=azXFktz3UjM&t=99 |

Official filming locations are Germany, Czech Republic (probably wannabe Austria or East Germany) and UK, nothing said about Lebanese location -- Last edit: 2018-11-20 20:36:59 |

It was filmed in the UK, Czech Republic and Greece. The Czech Republic served as West Germany and Austria. Greece appeared as itself, Yugoslavia and Middle Eastern locations. Link to "www.thelocationguide.com" |

I'll have to re-read the book and then watch on catch-up, I usually like Le Carre but this one left me a little bemused. |

I read the book ages ago but can't remember anything really about it, which probably means it wasn't one of his best as some others were unforgettable. It's also muddled and disjointed as a TV series, as if the director can't really decide how to give it any momentum. and the characters are 2-dimensional. So I don't care much what happens to them, just mildly curious to see where it goes. |

The original was a very forgettable film with a group of great actors and actresses. I am not sure it did deserved a remake. I don't want to involve anybody in a political topic but this story of Le Carre is not my favorite one. |

First ep opens in 1979 according to screen caption. I don't remember seeing other dates but presumably everything happens within a year or so. Which means a few cars are too new, and in UK at least these get fake "older" plates. Interesting choices of some spies cars on both sides - they usually have grubby cheap things in films, but these include Daimler Sovereign, Granada Ghia, Ro80, various Merc W123s, and some posh bikes, so both causes seem well funded. |

Surely that’s realism. I drove grubby cheap things (Escort/Astra/Cavalier/Golf) throughout the 1990s, so did most of my mates, with the odd exception. I don’t count my Bentley, which only appeared at weekends. -- Last edit: 2018-12-04 08:54:39 |
