Films of this era and on these subjetcs aren't necessarly all bad despite one may think , and reflects so well the freedom wind blowing at that times... sort of goldenage of happy times far from our present time (the last 20 years) of crisis, unemployment,self-control auto-censorship, fears, risks , aids, religious backing, etc... ;)

Although I've the opinion, too, that many things back then, in the Cold War times were much better (cars, definitely, absolutely, also music, architecture, design, etc.), you have to admit, that those years were worst about other things, pollution for example, and radioactive contamination (due the many bomb tests over the ground in the 60ies). And much bigger parts of the European citizenships weren't that openminded as nowadays. There was much more localism around (think, how many Nazis and Stalinists were still alive). Movies like this here, were just the first mental relaxations.

Besides, for the people in the communist countries, under the soviet influence, was not at all good. :D

And a way to make money? ;)

Nevertheless, if I would be able to choose a time and a place to live in, it would be France of the '60s and '70s.

It may sound cynical, but well ... yes ... - the Iron Curtain has caused a quite comfortable life for those on the Western side. The thoughts "If the Third World War will come, it will start exactly here" were just theoretical and usually repressed.
The people, who are most disgruntled, that these times are gone, were those, who lived closest to it. The quiet peace is gone, with the empty roads, no thru-traffic and -not to forget- the government-given money. The immediat neighbourhood of the Iron Wall was supported with tax money.

Les Trente Glorieuses ended in the early 70s. '50 and '60s is what you want.

I know. :)

I know that the giscardian era is not considered a good period in France, but, for me, is an interesting period all the same. I think at movies, cars, Jacques Mesrine etc. ;)

Of course, I also like the movies and the cars of the '50s, so let's say '50s, '60s and '70s. :p

BTW, generally, the movies of the '50s are less appreciated than those of the '60s and '70s. However, there are many 1950s great movies. I give only three examples (though, of course, there are much more):

/movie.php?id=46451 (/vehicle_11420-Citroen-11-BL-1947.html)

/movie.php?id=47892 (/vehicle_361853-Citroen-15-Six-D-1951.html)

/movie.php?id=50913 (/vehicle_54862-Citroen-15-Six-D-1951.html)

BTW, the photos which disappear kill me. :D

Even some early 1980s movies are good:

/movie.php?id=81658 (after J.-P. Manchette)

/movie_82949-Le-professionnel.html

/movie.php?id=82935 (after JPM)

/movie.php?id=83734

/movie.php?id=83625

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0087927/ (after JPM; not on IMCDb)

/movie.php?id=86282

I love movies after Jean-Patrick Manchette books.

Besides, some great cars of the 1970s were produced also in 1980s (Fiat 132 until 1981, Peugeot 504 until 1983, Peugeot 604 until 1985, Mercedes W123 until 1986). And many cars from the '70s were still on the roads in the '80s.

So let's say that if I would be able to choose a time and a place to live in, it would be France of the '50s, '60s, '70s and early '80s. :p

I don't ignore it, on the contrary, is one of my favourite movies, but the movies I spoke about above are from the early '80s. ;)
