(US title). Discovered empty page had been posted for this B-film I saw when I was knee-high to a dwarf. Children's thriller set in Malta. Trying to find a decent copy/source - apparently only on VHS and then a Region 1 US-only DVD as alternative title Sudden Terror - but found youtube trailer to be going on with. If/when I get a full copy, I'll upgrade. |

The last tv airing for this rarity was 20/03/1977.I then managed to watch it online (in HD no less) next on 1/12/08 -a gap of 31 YEARS -- Last edit: 2014-01-11 02:36:37 |

Everything now updated/upgraded from full film. The final cliff road sequence as the Land Rover destroys the Herald is one of the most spectacular chases I can remember for good old-fashioned skill, direction, use of location, tension etc and well worth finding a copy - deserves to be much more widely known. Apart from a simple plot aimed more at children, the only real flaw with the film is a total lack of locally-assembled Rootes-jewels - it could have done with a few Imps, Minxes, Hunters, Vogues etc. And for cl82's info, Van Der Graaf Generator provided a lot of the incidental music, but this was not one of their notable moments. Background cars - these are the only views before anyone asks: 1] 1959+ Consul Mk2 saloon with headlight chrome at 11-40: 2] local body bus at 19-42; the Escort Mk1 on right was probably local assembly, there's a Victor FB on left, and various other stuff to play with: 3] Fiat 600 at 22-18: 4] a Merc Benz Binz ambulance at 30-41: Other stuff: - dramatic wreck in background: Planes for impdb: - served up as a buffet take as many as you want! ![]() - opening credits archive footage (absolutely no relevance for the film, but probably a casual reference to Malta's WW2 experience) -- Last edit: 2021-01-30 21:09:21 |
