Excellent historical film. It's amazing because all the scene are reconstitutions with actors and extras (Algiers city people)filmed with many accuracy as if it was a documentary... the only bad point is about some vehicles which are not in phasis with the story of this battle (1957) Nice pics of Algiers where I lived when I was kid (1967-1970) ... a beautiful city ![]() ![]() ![]() Quai de la Pêcherie ![]() Unité d'habitation of LeCorbusier ( immeuble 'L'habitat') as there are many others in the world ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

sixcyl, this web forum has some recent photos of Algiers you might be interested to see, including the casbah and the waterfront. I think I can recognise some of the streets from the film. http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=387850 |

I like them too... I've seen during my short holydays last Christmas a very interesting exhibition on Le Corbusier at Nantes (west France), and did some pictures of the UH of Rezé (close to Nantes too ) ... ![]() esthetically... it's debatable indeed ![]() ![]() "le Modulor" ... |
