Anyway they can't be 1957, they both have 1958+ windows (however, there were kits available for upgrading to the 1958 rear window, but there's no obvious upgrade here)

 yes, they are US VWs… ok for Sedan rather than Limousine.
Large rear windows was introduced in August 1957 which remains in 1957 Year Model for Germany and Europe. Maybe later for US exportation models?
