Italy, World War II. A burglar dressed as a priest exchanges his clothes with the ones of a Carabinieri marshal injuried during a bombing. When the marshal recovers his senses, the people of the small village to which both were going believe that he's the new priest, and the burglar the new Carabinieri marshal.
