Good film from René Clément, who was a genius in technics of filming.

The U-boat submarine in which 90% of the actions are played was a pure reconstitution of a german U-boat, it's amazing looking realistic :)

 TV premiere on arte some 73 years later!
And it is worth it, as sixcyl says René Clément is awesome.
