A very intriguing movie. I watched it recently for the first time and look forward to be able to see it again to work out some of the possible answers, as the ending is not an obvious one.

edit: after seeing the clip again...
However I would liked to have seen some captures from the video cassette from inside the moving vehicle. edit: on the journey to his parents house in the rain. Also later in the journey to the flat looks to be the same vehicle but with the camera moved slightly. The windscreen and wipers were seen plus the 'A' pillar and the view through the driver's side window. It may be possible to guess the car, or possibly van that was used. I'm guessing it was 1970s or early 1980s. (None of the cars already listed match the vehicle used.)

@Sunbar the wipers are seen here /vehicle_39913-Honda-Civic-CRX-EH6-1993.html but the camera pans too fast for the A pillar.
