 I don't understand how it's "fake" product placement. If it's there then isn't it "real" product placement?

 So then it's not product placement at all. It was simply inserted by the filmakers. Fake product placement would be when fictional products are inserted into a movie, such as the "Pizza Planet" restaurants in Pixar movies.

 It's supposed to be satire within the context of the movie about how much product placement/sponsorship there can be. Or something like that...haven't seen this movie in years.
