jpts ◊ 2017-04-17 14:34	This film was about the US Coast Guard rescue of a ship's crew from the SS Pendleton; a T2-SE-A1 Oil Tanker that had broken apart by nor'easter off the coast of Chatham, Massachusetts on the night of the 18th February 1952. Out of the Pendleton's crew of 41 onboard, 32 were rescued by a CG 36500 Motorboat piloted by Boatswain Mate First Class and Coxswain Bernard C. Webber and his crew members; Seamen Richard Livesey and Ervin Maske and Engineman Third Class; Andrew Fitzgerald. Nine crew members died; eight (including the Pendleton's captain) were on the bridge on the bow section when it sank before the arrival of the 36500 boat and one (the ship's cook) was on the stern section of the Pendleton when he fell off the ladder into the water and was crushed between the Pendleton and the 36500 boat during the rescue. -- Last edit: 2017-04-17 15:19:14
