WWII wartime drama-series, the action set on 1943-1944.

Little bloops in Ep. 3: definitely deeply postwar Star trailer truck and unsufficiently hidden 1960s Jelcz 706 bus.

mike962 wrote not a manned vehicle

it's a Goliath remote controled from Wehmacht days

130rapid wrote List or not to list... :think:

andrepa wrote self-propelled but driverless should be listed here.
a decision with far-reaching consequences when we think about the future of the automobile:
Driverless cars
Another argument is that the designation sdkfz is nothing more than a special motor vehicle, but still a
kfz = car ; truck ; tank ; tractor ; motorbike etc.

BUT

this wasn't meant to carry a person unlike a driverless car !!

the Goliath is just a drone , not an autonomos car

johnfromstaffs wrote Remote controlled in 1944? Was this by way of radio control, or by the use of an umbilical? There is a considerable difference in perception of the two options, and I don’t think that this thing could accurately be described as a drone, the operator would, of necessity, have to be relatively close to it. Nor is it in any way comparable with a driverless vehicle which is capable of assessment of situations and surroundings and making decisions for itself on steering and braking.

It is really very little more than a vehicle with a long steering column, in that the operator has to see it to “drive” it.

More thought needed, before any new, or re- classification please.

mike962 wrote it was usually controlled by long wires

here video demonstrating it

johnfromstaffs wrote Thanks, I see that one of the YouTube clips calls it a tracked mine. That’s about it, control looks to be limited to “start/stop; left/right; forward/back; explode.” Remotely controlled vehicles have been in use for many years, mainly for mine disposal but they are much more basic than any modern driverless car needs to be.
