Similar slow-burning style as Robinson in Space but slowed down much further by focussing on just countryside and agriculture and limiting itself to the counties of Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire. Lots of long static sequences of flowers, hedges, streams, fields, lichens, old quarries and abandoned fuel depots etc while the voiceover - by Vanessa Redgrave - throws in an apparently random series of facts and commentaries covering agricultural and social history, the 2008 financial crises, the closure of US air bases in the area in the 1990s and the removal of nuclear weaponry, wheat harvests etc. Every so often something fascinating crops up (!) such as the variety of uses of rapeseed oil, or that there is officially licenced opium poppy cultivation in Oxfordshire to enable methadone production for prescribed treatment of UK heroin addicts. And a gradual accumulation of sites for oil pipelines and depots becomes a hidden network of supply infrastructure for all the RAF and US air bases in the area, most now abandoned. The result is a subtle exploration of secret Britain, which if you have the patience is eventually fascinating. But if not, most people will probably ask WTF that was all about if they stick with it to the end. If this sort of film sounds interesting, I'd say don't start with this one - try one of the other two in the trilogy first as they're both more visual so more quickly comprehensible.
