It seems that most of the shot were from archive files...

 These movie-scenes seems to be a mixture of original stock-footage from the USA, mainly New York, and some helpless self-cobbled "Shall-be-USA"-scenes.

 This is a Soviet television production based on the play Dial M for Murder, which was made into a film by Alfred Hitchcock. The play was originally set in London.

This adaptation was made by Moldova Film, presumably in Kishniev (Chişinău), the capital. Most of the vehicle shots are stock footage of New York.

I love all of these movies (not only Soviet made), which were set in other countries - mostly cheaply made and without any idea, how the original locations were looking in reality. :lol:
Sources of great fun they are! Freaky mixtures, causing horror and loughters for the same time. For me a very important reason to rove around on IMCDB. :D

 I'm glad that you liked it.
About sources of real NY. That could been taken from the news, they are filmed well (but quality of film is different).
Some of soviet movies had real western city installation shooted very inaccurate and unprofessional (like with hidden camera).

 I've found a Soviet series with even worse American settings. :) See what they use to represent an American airport and then keep watching until at least 1 minute 50. :lol:
