"A filmmaker looks at the history and transformation of his birthplace, Liverpool". Archive-based documentary - has some rave reviews on imdb, but I thought it was a pompous ego-project - relentlessly sarcastic voice-over with pretentious intellectual quotes and sombre classical music as he rants about religion, coronations, poverty, deprivation, housing, little people living little lives etc. Wide variety of footage - very little of which looked familiar from stuff we've got elsewhere - and does show how much poverty there was in Liverpool.
