If it's set in Africa, why are the car all left hand drive? |

It is filmed in America, but there are many LHD countries in Africa: Link to "en.wikipedia.org" (red = LHD, blue = RHD) |

The land rover listed as a 1968 series 2a is in fact a series 3 not a 2a, series 3 had the plastic grille with the headlights in wings and a 2a had them in the grille like the other land rover, as for the year must be early 70's |

Let me shed some light on these movie cars. The movie was filmed partly in South Carolina and afterwards they were all taken to a deactivated submarine repair facility in Goose Creek SC (former navy base)for sale. Alsopart of the movie Die Hard 3 was filmed here (the Fed Reserve break in scene. But I digress. The transportation captain Peter Hackett had an ad in the Charleston SC paper "movie cars for sale" The Bentley was a 4 door with the top cut off and a fake crude boot on (contact woodgrain paper on the dash, ran rough, looked rough asking price $4000.The "monster truck" was $20000.I wanted to buy the 4 Land Rovers (he gave 2 other totaled ones away). They wanted $8000 for all 4 with one full of new service parts(filters etc). They had a bill of sale from a dealer in Maine where they bought all 6 at $10000 each. The hangup was no titles for any of the vehicles. I knew that would be a problem in SC and waffled, about 20 minutes up the road I turned aroun and went back,he had sold the Landies. That's the way it goes. Hope this helps. |
