I thought at first about a MGB, but it's rather an Opel Ascona A. |

I think it's a first-gen. Manta |

Agree Manta [A]. |

No original Convertible. Neither Ascona or Manta were offered in this version. |

There was the Vauxhall Cavalier convertible though. |

But not in the official Vauxhall-programme or? There was an Ascona C Convertible Link to "www.google.de" but AFAIK never distributed officially by Opel-dealers. P.S. There was one single Manta A Prototype, made by Karmann as this text says http://www.cabrionews.de/katalog/opel/manta.php but it went never in production. The Cabrio on the pictures is a selfmade one. But the Karmann-Manta has survived and is now owned by a private person. And there were a handfull Manta B-Cabrios, made by the company Piecha: http://buldago.oyla4.de/cgi-bin/hpm_homepage.cgi -- Last edit: 2011-03-09 19:12:21 |

MK2 Convertible was sold officially by Vauxhall. Nothing to do with the Manta [A] though. As was the MK1 Crayford Cavalier Centaur that I had forgotten momentarily. -- Last edit: 2011-03-09 19:29:16 |

Why this discussion about convertibles? This is just a coupé with a crashed roof... |

Anyway, its very interesting discussion ![]() |

And it's still based on the car, resp. the brand, which is visible here. Nothing about portable toilets or British food. We're getting more serious (reps.staying on topic) day by day... ![]() |

@ ingo: and you know in which part of Berlin was recorded this video? |
|

For sure in West Berlin (clip from 1981). Looks like the part of the "Stadtautobahn", the A10 (nowadays A 100). As the town council wouldn't close an Autobahn-part just for such a video-clip (from a very poor band, which was also hated by the absolute majority, especially from the "establishment"), it's probably on a part, which was still in construction. So my guess: the A10 in construction between Kreuz Schöneberg and Tempelhof. My 1976-Berlin-town map says, that this route was under construction/in planning. And last but not least it's nearby the quarter Kreuzberg, where the band was coming from - at least all kind of alternatives, punks, anarchists etc. back then in Berlin. |
