Can anyone tell me if a car that appeared as a prop in a movie is more valuable for that same car without that provenance? If so, how much more would it possibly add to the value?

Thank you

Well, let’s look at it this way.

A ten year old Ford van that appears in a short for three minutes two hundred yards from the camera, not much.

A half million pound supercar that takes a main part in a grade A feature film, more.

@manitobro: Difficult matter... If you can prove it's actually the car which was used for the movie and we're talking about a reknowned movie [random example: La Bamba (1987)], this may very well rise the collector's value for that car. But there's no formula you can use, because all that is 'special interest' and buyers are very likely to follow their heart rather than their mind - just to avoid the term "irrational price". In any case a provenance like that normally doesn't double the price and should be considered more of an add-on and, of course, a proper advertising point. And it shouldn't be used to compensate potential faults the car preferrably wouldn't like to talk about, if you understand... ;) Hope this helps!

@unclehotrod13: Just read your comment. Mr. Santo Farina is your dad? That is amaZing!!! Please give him a hug and just thank him - he made a major contribution to my and my best friend's soundtrack of our lives! :)

I have to add that whatever car, and whatever film it appeared in, I personally would not pay a penny extra, I would want the car, and not give a toss for the provenance, which to me is worthless.
