A car chase between the Cutlass and Crown Vics is worth checking out, especially an extended scene on the DVD.

That was actually part of the car chase scene that was cut. They explained in the special features that the car chase scene was suppoesed to be like a real-life version of the video game that he was shown playing earlier. It was supposed to be like he had been training for it by playing the video game and it was now time to apply it in real life. Notice that the car in the video game was also light blue and that it went over a ramp to escape a police blockade, just like in the real-life chase. They wanted to make it look like the video game during the real life chase, so they put those point markers over the heads of pedestrians in the real chase. At the last minute they decided to ditch the video game connection, and make the real life chase a stand alone scene, hence getting rid of the point markers in the final movie.
