 Brace yourself, you've found a very rare specimen; a Nippon NJ... a grand total of 80 were made from 1953 to 1956. 3 are known to have survived, and there's a YouTube video about one of the survivors. Interesting stuff.

I knew it was probably from an obscure make from the 1950s (a la the Flying Feather, as it's not a design I recognized), but I didn't expect that only 80 of those ever existed!

 Correcting myself, the commentary in the video states that 85 were produced, not that it's a huge difference. The company seems to have been renamed Nikkei Taro sometime during 1955 after a bankruptcy/merger. This new company made a new convertible named RA-1, which had FR layout rather than the RR layout of the NJ. They also made a small commercial van/truck called LA-1. Production output increased twofold during this time, with a total of 157 vehicles made. Nikkei Taro went bankrupt in 1957 and was renamed Nikken. This final version of the company seems to have lasted until at least 1961, making another small commercial van/truck called the Constac, of which 145 were made. None of these later vehicles are known to survive as far as I know.

As for the Nippon featured in this film, I think it's a bit later than 1953; maybe from around 1955, as it's got a one-piece windshield.
