On the basis of my 2012 (old shape) estate, very easy to drive and live with, but with a lot of subtle charm and an unobtrusive sporty nature, so can be driven enthusiastically when wanted. I often do 250-300 mile trips down to Englandshire and arrive relaxed having enjoyed the drive. My guess is they benchmarked the Volvo V50 and added some character and a 7 year warranty. Only downside is mediocre dealers for servicing etc. Used to get several other types of Kia as rentals and they were always fine. |

Generally Kia's get mocked here for no other reason other than they're just considered dull to most (i've always had a heart for them.) They usualy last forever and aren't bad to ride or and take care of but usually that's dull to most people. -- Last edit: 2017-05-16 08:41:34 |

I wasn't going to say anything more but I had to object to this. That's the first time I've ever heard anyone claim Kia's lasting forever. Kia's start rapidly hitting the scrapyard/crusher around the 10 year-mark, if they even make it that far. If you like them that's fine, every model and make has its fans and loyalists. But look around your city (or ANY city in the US)...you never really see old Kia's zipping around. Even the current ones are only marginally better. They don't hold up over the years. A Toyota can last forever. Maybe even a Honda. But Kia? They're way down near the bottom of the automotive barrel with Mitsubishi and Hyundai... |

When the cost of replacing failed electronic engine management modules (and their availability) is causing the viability of ten year old Bentleys to be questionable, no car built since these things became universal can be considered everlasting. |

In UK it's interesting to follow the sequences of cars used by city minicab fleets. 20+ years ago Nissans were dominant (UK-build Bluebirds, then Primeras) until Skoda Octavias took over for a long time, then old-shape Kia Ceeds (like mine) with several still going strong in Glasgow today. But they did not adopt the new shape Ceeds (and have never used Hyundai cousins) and now seem to have switched to Skoda Rapid/Seat Toledo twins instead. |

You have missed out the Proton 1.3 which were very popular as taxis, and with retired people. If you looked at what was available on the second hand market they were quite easy to tell apart. |
