Yes - Invacar Type 57. Must have been a complex evolution if there were 56 types before this. Eventually the count reached 70 for the final flourish of this epic design. |

It is interesting to see that in 1965, the date of this picture, the 1960 introduction of the “Ten Year Test” seems to have cleared the roads of pre-war cars (at least in London), but that there were still some Fords of antediluvian design, but post war manufacture, clinging on until ether the rust, or the necessity of an engine rebuild killed ‘em. Also, I bet that A40 Somerset’s front wheels would still be pattering up and down 200 yards after hitting a pothole. These days, the proliferation of potholes on the once billiard table roads of the U.K. would mean a constant bouncing from the dreadful Austin front suspension. -- Last edit: 2022-05-22 13:53:08 |
