 Mmmh… dsl and other aficionados, among the pics I'm gonna upload, there are some coming from the GP de l'A.C.F. (4 july 1937) at Monthléry. If you have serious stuff about it, you can use it here. A few words about

Un film d'André Berthomieu (chuis très Berthomieu, moi, en ce moment). Adaptation d'une pièce, et ça se voit, mais pas en bien ici. Les dialogues de Roger Ferdinand n'ont rien d'étincelant, ils sont même souvent très lourds ou plats. les caractères sont peu ou mal définis, et l'ensembe est en fait sans grand intérêt…

Avec Raimu et Michel Simon !

La gueule de Michel Simon ici illustre assez bien mon avis sur le film. (Par ailleurs, il semblerait que Raimu ait détesté jouer avec notre Suisse national, et juré de ne plus jamais le faire. Il tint parole.)

Sinon, Betty Stockfeld est livrée à elle-même. On trouve encore Maupi (coiffé en brosse !), Bergeron, Germaine Charley, Katia Lova en ingénue, Fernand Fabre en pas très malin quasi-maquereau, l'épouvantable Joffre et le délicieux Gaston Dubosc.

Ah, tout de même, les images de course auto, avec caméra embarquée, m'ont paru pas mal pour l'époque.

Some interestingly made car-racing footage inserted in an otherwise very average drama, lazy adaptation from theatre to the screen. And neither Michel Simon nor Raimu are good here, which is a performance of its own kind!

 Inserted in the movie, the front page of L'Auto —ancester of L’Équipe daily— on sunday 4th of July 1937, anouncing a duel Delahaye-Tabot at Monthléry:

We nevertheless can believe that more than one race has been used in the racing sequence, totalling about 5 minutes in the movie.
