Nothing on imdb but is a 2007 compilation DVD "On The Beat - The British Policeman 1900-1984",
[Image: cover1.jpg]
which in turn was reissued by Atlas Editions a couple of years ago
[Image: cover2.jpg]
as a free gift for subscribers to their "Best of British Police Cars" partwork mail order series of Vanguards-based 1:43 diecasts. Just in case it makes any difference for timings etc, I'm using the Atlas Editions reissue.

Have extracted several stand-alone films which have their own pages:
1] A Day In The Life Of A London Policeman (1917)
2] War And Order (1940)
3] The British Policeman (1957)
4] Unit Beat Policing (1968)
5] Between The Anvil And The Hammer (1973)
6] John Paterson, Police Constable (1980), and
7] Police Officer (1984).

This leaves a mash-up of linking items from a wide range of sources - mostly uncredited - including archive footage, TV reports, movie news features, police training films, short extracts from other documentary films instead of full inclusion, and whatever else they could find. eg

All put into the food blender and poured out in chronological order. There are also a couple of DVD extras compilations - at least on the Atlas Editions reissue:
1] "Police On Display" - 5½ minutes long - only one entry extracted for the Met Police bike display team
2] "Police Vehicles" - 11½ minutes long - absolutely stuffed to the eyeballs with vehicles - huge number posted.
Have posted entries from both these with "Extras" in episode box and using the timings within each of these compilations, without any attempt to calculate an overall DVD timing.

Only 2 clips spotted which is not real footage (the Wolseley 1500 and Jag MkVIIM which are both from 1959 version of The 39 Steps) - otherwise no fictional cinema/TV inserts. The result is fascinating - some very wooden spoken links, but very well compiled. And with both versions being as cheap as chips on Amazon or ebay, well getting hold of.

I should be interested to know if this contains a short piece about policewomen wearing makeup, the woman police superintendent being interviewed for this was my godmother.
