| Dodge 100 Series 'Commando' Boon (1986-1992) |
I believe it could. The problem is to rule out the other Rootes/Chrysler Renault versions, as they were in turn called Dodge, Commer, Dodge-Renault and finally Renault. It seems the Commer had the model name written on a silver strip on the door, the Dodge-Renault had nothing written at all, and the Renault had firstly the Renault marque and then the full "COMMANDO" written before any model number. The Dodge seems to have had it written as like the first thumb. I'd vote for a Dodge Commando. |

| unknown L'homme de Rio (1964) |
Perhaps a Mercedes LPS 315, as here http://www.favcars.com/mercedes-benz-lp315-1956-images-15158 , here Link to "www.forum.mdiecast.com" and here Link to "www.visipix.com" . If I understand this correctly LP means an ordinary truck carrying loads on its own chassis while LPS is a truck pulling a trailer as above. I believe it's from the latter part of the 50's. Edit: When searching trucksplanet I found this page http://www.trucksplanet.com/catalog/model.php?id=784 which told me that Kässbohrer (Ulm) built cabins to various German truck chassis. -- Last edit: 2013-04-01 14:11:42 |

I'm not sure, but it seems the 1500 has a wider side strip http://www.zuckerfabrik24.de/fiat/pics3/15Lp1_2.jpg than the 1800 http://www.zuckerfabrik24.de/fiat/pics3/18b_23_nl1c.jpg . Either that or it has something to do with MY. |

If I understand the Fiat versions correctly, this is very unlikely specifically a 1960 Fiat 1800. Other possibilities: 1959 - 61 Fiat 1800 or 2100 (no visible differences from the outside whether it had a bigger or smaller engine). These versions usually had two tone paint with black roof. 1961 - 68 Fiat 1800 B, with paint in only one colour, and otherwise only changes visible from inside. From 1963 (version B2) with AC alternator. |

| 1970 Volvo 144 Aktenzeichen XY ungelöst (1967-2013) |
How can you see this is particularly a 1970 MY? Not much differed between the years (when looking from the outside), but there were a few modifications. -Black door handles from 1968 MY -A bigger 2.0 litre engine (B20) instead of the older 1.8 litre engine (B18) from 1969. Visible from outside cecause of an extra badge in the grill. -Cloth upholstery instead of vinyl from 1969 MY. -Hazard lights from 1970 MY. -Head rests as standard from 1970 MY, but it was possible to order them separate earlier as well. As this one doesn't have the B20 badge, but has head rests, it MIGHT be a 1970 model, but not for certain. |

This is actually the top of the line model in the 140-series, namely 144 GL (if sold in at least Sweden) or 144 E if sold in the U.S. and UK. I don't know what it was called in Germany. It had leather upholstery, metallic paint and a B20E engine with fuel injection. |

Déjà vu! When I grew up my parents had one of these between 1974 and 1980, albeit an estate. But with the same colour code, 42 California white. | 1947 Nash Ambassador The Master (2012) |
Are the front wings long enough to be an Ambassador? When I was in my 20's I followed a neighbour who totally restored a 1947 Nash 600, and I understood that the only difference between the 600 and the Ambassador was the longer front, but I never understood why it had an extended front (bigger engine, straight eight?). If I understand this page http://www.nashcarclub.org/nccaphot/nccaphot.html correctly they almost looked the same 1942-48 albeit the earlier ones had somewhat less chrome between the headlights ("grill"). |

| Volvo GB 88 Goodbye Pork Pie (1980) |
I'm sorry, but I don't believe this is a F88, but a GB 88. If one compare with an ordinary F88 http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Volvo_F88-49T_Truck_1966_2.jpg the F88 has the cab entrance mounted in front of the front axle while the G88 has the cab mounted slightly forward and thus forced the entrance to be behind the rear axle. The F normaly means a COE (cab over engine) model, but with only two axles. An additional B means a tandem rear axle. That is a Volvo GB 88. http://www.smcars.net/forums/volvo/3827-volvo-g88.html , http://www.hcvc.com.au/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1255170092 and http://www.commercialmotor.com/big-lorry-blog/venerable-aussie-volvo-g88-fro . |

Hi, Bob Dieck, Thank you for your time and kind answer! Since I became a caretaker for a 1967 Mercedes 250 SE [W108], and became astonished how amazingly well old Mercedes were constructed, I have wanted to learn more about old Mercedes history and models. I'm always grateful to learn from persons who have "hands on" experiense. My only experince with this body is a short ride in a friends 1959 220 SE. A truly unforgettable moment. | 1966 Mercedes-Benz 250 S [W108] To Catch a Spy (1971) |
@bob dieck: It's actually somewhat more complicated than that. These wheels were used on a number of different Mercedes models, but concerning the [W108] range they where fitted on the 1965-68(69?)250S [W108 II], the 1965-68 250SE [W108 III] and the 1965-67 300SE [W108 IV]. But I've also seen some early 1968? 280S [W108 V28], 1968? 280SE [W108 E28], and 1968? 300SEL [W109 E28]. Here's a link: http://wiki.mercedes-benz-classic.com/index.php/Kategorie:W108/W109 If I understand this rightly, it seems they changed the wheels either in 1968 or when introducing the 1969 model year. |

| 1962 Mercedes-Benz 190 [W110] Cose di Cosa Nostra (1971) | With the indicators on top of the front wing I'd like this to be either a 1961-65 190c [W110 B1] or a 1961-65 190d [W110 D1], as here http://wiki.mercedes-benz-classic.com/index.php/Kategorie:W110/W111/W112 . | 2013-03-04 14:54 | |

| 1954 Fiat 1400 A [101A] Volare - La grande storia di Domenico Modugno (2013) |
@electra225: I almost ruled out the 1400B as the car above had the doors from a 1400A (a chrome strip at the door handles). I don't think the rear window is big enough for a 1400B and as far as I can see it has on top of that also the bigger 1400A indicators. Please compare this 1400A http://www.zuckerfabrik24.de/fiat/pics3/1400a_pw2.jpg with this 1400B http://www.zuckerfabrik24.de/fiat/pics2/1400B_s1b.JPG . I don't say this is a 1400A, but if it's a 1400B it must be heavily modified. I rather think it's a 1954-56 Fiat 1400A, as here http://www.zuckerfabrik24.de/fiat/fiat1400A_2.htm . If it was a 1900B it should have had additional lights (or at least one cyclops light) in the grill and rather a more ornate shape of the side strip. As it has the appearance of a 1400A but the side strip of the 1400B, could it be a late 1400A or a modified 1400A? -- Last edit: 2013-02-24 18:09:18 |

| 1975 Volvo 242 Fast Getaway II (1994) |
As far as I can see it has long doors, arguing this is a 242, as there never was a 243 (in production). It has also not the posh appearance of a 262, and it has the pre 1980 wheels. I can't see whether it has black or chromed door mirrors. Therefore I'd say it's a 1975-79 Volvo 242. |

About the trunk: In early days of owning a car one always take for granted that all the aspects of a car is made from one manufaturer. Unfortunately that cannot be true in these days as a car is far too complicated to be made in other ways than in a "collection" of parts from different subtractors. The only car, that I know of, that was (almost) solely made by one manufaturer was the Ford model T, where Ford owned the mines where the metals originated, the glass works, forrests from wheree the base of the body was made, big farms with cows from where he got the hides, and I believe he even owned some oil refinery. But they almost got bankrupted when he tried to own the rubber production as well. But having said that I was surprised when I found a brouchure for an optional extra; a (just one) shock absorber... The trunk was, I'm sure, made by one of several body manufacturer. Perhaps, but not for sure, possible to order as an optional extra. Not only on the 260D, but on all models. |

A few questions: Was it possible to hear the sound of a Diesel? If so, it can still be a petrol engine as most sound effects is added afterwards. Was the Diesel version common, at the time, among the military? It might also be a 230 [W143] as here http://wiki.mercedes-benz-classic.com/index.php/Datei:230W143.jpg or a 320 [W142] as here http://wiki.mercedes-benz-classic.com/index.php/Datei:320W142.jpg . How can it be possible to tell an exact year? Can it be read on the number plate? If so, is it trustworthy? The [W138] was made 1936-40. The [W142] was made 1937-42. The [W143] was made 1937-41. -- Last edit: 2013-02-10 22:50:22 |

Because of the mirrors (round, small and black) and the rectangular head lamps, I'd say it's at least a 1979 (only) 244/245 GL. The writings in the grill MIGHT suggests it's a 244/245 GLE, which is the only model (of this year and type) I know of that had lettering in the grill http://schmidt-gemert.nl/_files/foto/81/thb3_244GLE80-1.jpg . | 1980 Mercedes-Benz 300 D Lang [W123] Beverly Hills Cop II (1987) |
According to http://wiki.mercedes-benz-classic.com/index.php/Kategorie:W123 the only models of the W123 range available in stretched version were: - 240 D Lang [123.125] 1977-85 with engine OM616 D24. - 300 D Lang [123.132] 1977-85 with engine OM617 D30. - 250 Lang [123.028] 1977-85 with engine M123 V25. According to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mercedes-Benz_W123 , the 250 wasn't on sale in the US, perhaps because it didn't pass the United States Department of Transportation requirements on exhaust emissions. Therefore: 240D or 300D. |
