its a 300 coupe for sure and i think its a 1955 model as it appears to have the chrome wheel rims which were becoming popular at that time along with the chrome wheel trims! you cant have too much chrome you know. 2009-09-23 17:10

yes it is a w187 but not all markets had the small lamps in the chrome trim on top of the wings most that i have worked on had solid trims, but you could order them if you wanted they are in the original drivers handbook/parts booklet that came with the car,at that time this was one of the last mercedes to retain te door pillar mounted semaphore signals. but times were a changing. 2009-09-23 16:50

1949 Mercedes-Benz 170 S [W136.IV]
Die Blechtrommel (1979)
this is no w187 for a start the rear window is far too large, secondly the boot is of a different shape to a w187 it being longer in depth on the picture also door handles and chrome trim are different all this leads to w136 being the likely model 2009-09-23 16:18

Peking Express (2004-2013)
it is a mercedes benz 220 of 1951 to 54 model year ihave owned 3 and restored others so i have a consierable knowledge of this type w187 the headlights are a dead giveway anyway as this was in fact the first model to have them integrated into the wings (apart from some special bodied ones) wheels look much too big though tyey all had 15 inch rims and 6.40x15 tyres the car on film looks way to big. 2009-09-23 15:56
1952 Mercedes-Benz 220 [W187.011]
A Bridge Too Far (1977)
the mercedes is infact a 220 of 1952 vintage, it was my brothers car which he had for a log time it was hastily painted grey for the film although it was deemed o.k to use at it used most of the prewar body as the earlier cars the halftrack was also his in the above picture this was sold on many years later the car suffered damaged and the interest in it was lost ,it is now scraped thanks for a great site. 2009-09-22 15:18
