| 1953 Studebaker Champion Don't Give Up the Ship (1959) |
They actually did film this in front of the Capitol, not stock footage. The '58 Plymouth taxi is right behind the Studebaker, dropping off a couple characters. |

| 2002 Aston Martin Vanquish Die Another Day (2002) |
^ Like the license plate, he probably reacted with an "EWW." But adaptive camoflauge (invisibility) is not completely science fiction. On Top Gear UK Richard Hammond drove a van fitted with large video screens around it. It was clearly not as practical or seamless as the Aston but still pretty cool. |

| 1957 Morris Minor 1000 The Borrowers (1997) |
I don't think the British-esque setting of the film was ever implicitly stated, but apparently it was partly "Americanized" for American children. You have British actors like Jim Broadbent and Hugh Laurie (also the guy who played Arthur Weasley in the HP series) and some American actors like John Goodman and the kid who befriends the Borrowers. Also, you see people eating American brands like Eggo waffles and Breyer's ice cream. And you have people driving 40 year old British cars on the right side of the road. I was 9 or 10 when this movie came out and I can remember thinking that England was really like this, being partly stuck in the 1950s in some way. lol -- Last edit: 2012-12-02 17:43:03 |

| Mad Men (2007-2013) |
In the recent episode "Commissions and Fees", Lane receives a Jag as a surprise gift from his wife. He later tries to commit suicide in it by rerouting the exhaust into the interior with a garden hose. A bit of black humor plays out when he can't get the engine to turn over. As Bert Cooper once said, "They're lemons - they never start!" Also, this past season (5) has SCDP trying to attract Jaguar as a client. -- Last edit: 2012-06-06 19:14:47 |

^^ It's possible that they used a combination of Belvederes and Savoys; maybe Plazas too. In the late '50s, most, (if not all) US car manufacturers followed the same general design for a particular model year, with only minor differences by trim levels. The production crew likely acquired a bunch of normal used cars that they could frequently crash and repair. I doubt they went through the trouble to get authentic taxi cabs. Just check out the huge dent in the main pic with the decorative trim piece slapped over it, lol. |
